Quartiers chinois de Toronto<\/h1>\n\t\t\t\t\t

De l\u2019avenue Spadina \u00e0 la rue Gerrard Est, les deux quartiers chinois historiques de Toronto t\u00e9moignent de g\u00e9n\u00e9rations de migration, d\u2019entreprise et de changement culturel.<\/h1>\n\t\t\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n

APER\u00c7U<\/h1>\n\t\t\t\t\t

Le premier quartier chinois de Toronto s\u2019est d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 autour de la rue Elizabeth \u00e0 la fin du XIXe et au d\u00e9but du XXe si\u00e8cle. Une grande partie du quartier a ensuite \u00e9t\u00e9 expropri\u00e9e et d\u00e9molie pour la construction de l\u2019h\u00f4tel de ville de Toronto et de la place Nathan Phillips, d\u00e9pla\u00e7ant ainsi les r\u00e9sidents, les entreprises et les institutions communautaires.

De nombreuses entreprises se sont relocalis\u00e9es vers l\u2019ouest le long de la rue Dundas jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019avenue Spadina, cr\u00e9ant ainsi le quartier chinois du centre-ville reconnu aujourd\u2019hui. Ses march\u00e9s, restaurants, herboristeries, services communautaires et rues bord\u00e9es de tramways en ont fait l\u2019un des quartiers culturels les plus visibles et durables de Toronto.

Un deuxi\u00e8me quartier chinois a \u00e9merg\u00e9 au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 1970 autour de l\u2019avenue Broadview et de la rue Gerrard Est. Fa\u00e7onn\u00e9 par la migration chinoise et vietnamienne, le quartier chinois de l\u2019Est a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 son propre caract\u00e8re commercial et communautaire \u00e0 plus petite \u00e9chelle, d\u00e9sormais marqu\u00e9 par l\u2019arche Zhong Hua Men. Ensemble, les deux districts r\u00e9v\u00e8lent une communaut\u00e9 constamment remodel\u00e9e par les d\u00e9placements, les nouveaux arrivants et la g\u00e9ographie changeante de Toronto. <\/h1>\n\t\t\n<\/div>\n
